Pope Francis has awarded the Benemerenti award to Maureen Harrison and Angela Davis of our Parish for the work that they have undertaken for the church over many years.
Maureen was Sacristan at St Joeseph’s, Birkdale for twenty years and then followed by over twenty years at St Theresa’s, Abergele. Maureen was both a Reader and Eucharistic Minister over this period. Angela has been active in the Church of Christ the King, Towyn for over forty years. Angela went to the wooden church that was at Towyn, raised money to construct the current church at Towyn. Angela was involved in the clean-up and the rebuilding the church after the 26th February 1990 flood at Towyn at which the church was submerged under 4 feet of sea water. Angela was a Sacristan, Reader, Eucharistic Minister and Catholic Primary School Governor over this period of time as well helping to organise the bi-annual fayres that were held at Towyn to raise monies for our parish.
On Friday 27th October 2023 Bishop Peter presented both medals and certificates to Maureen and Angela during Mass.
